Be sure to look at "what to bring" at the bottom!
Chevron quilt
59 X 68 inches
cute in Halloween style it can be done in any fabrics you choose--of course!
My rude drawing of said quilt........showing 18 different fabrics. You can repeat fabrics if you want. Here are the amounts you will need........
For 18 different fabrics: 3/8 yard of 16 different fabrics and 1/4 yard for the little triangles
To repeat each fabric one time, so it makes two stripes: 1/2 yard each of 8 different fabrics plus
1/4 yard each of 2 for the triangles
To repeat each fabric twice, making three stripes: 7/8 yard 6 different fabrics
If you want to get with a sister or cousin and use the same fabrics you will need 1/2 yard of 18 different fabrics. Any other questions call or comment...........I want this to be FUN for you!!!!
If you want it longer than that, we can add more strips. Just bring a couple more pieces of fabric............it will be easy, I promise!
Buggy Barn Hearts
When I get the borders added it will be 63 X 88. It is 25 blocks. You will need 9 different fat quarters of 3 different colors each--9 brown, 9 pink, 9 ivory (the idea here is scrappy--no two fabrics exactly the same)
This one is 16 blocks--53 1/2 X 73 1/2 inches with the borders. For this one you will need 6 different fabrics of three colors each--6 red, 6 pink, 6 ivory.
Now...........of course you can choose any three colors you would like. Usually you will want a dark, a medium, and a light. I just made one with light blue, brown and ivory/light tan. And I have the fabric to make one in grey, black and yellow..............a sample/demo for the retreat.
To prep for the retreat:
I want you to have your fabrics washed, if you choose to wash them first. I always wash my fabrics first. You can always lightly starch them if you want them crisp. I have a friend who never washes her fabrics and always washes her quilt in cold water and lays it out to dry. You choose...........
For the heart quilt, iron your fat quarters and have them stacked in three stacks in like colors.
Chevron quilt: Prewash, iron, and cut--if you know how to "square" your fabric!!! If not, it will take a very short time to cut your fabrics, so don't stress over it............at least two 3 1/2 inch strips from each fabric. You will need two strips for each zig-zag. The cutting is strictly optional. We can cut them quickly when we get there if you would rather. Please, please let me know which quilt you are going to make so I can have the additional supplies you will need.............
I'm excited for this!!!!!
We are hoping that you will want to stay at Irene's. We have meals planned and will then ask for each of you to take a turn getting it ready and then cleaning up.............also.........we would like each of you to bring a "treat". It can be anything you consider a "treat".............express your personality!
Staying at Irene's:
Bring something to sleep on--a foam pad and a blanket or sleeping bag.........she has plenty of floor space while beds are a little scarce............I hope this will work for you............
