First of all.........thank you for your kind words. You give me courage to continue...........
Another busy day--on the run most of the time. Roger had some missionaries to meet at the Birmingham Stake Center--they were there for interviews with Pres. Hanks--so we went out to meet them there........dead batteries really.........we had to jump start two cars. The assistants drove one back to the office and the other one is assigned to some darling sisters in Gadsden. They have had to ask for jumps many times in the past two days. She said one time they prayed and it started. But just once. This is the same darling girl who threw her arms around me that late night we drove up there to get them in their apartment. She has a new sister since last week........she's a good one to be a trainer. Anyway, so Roger had to take the battery out, take it to be charged and checked, then put one back in (I don't know if he had to buy a new battery or not). He was outside an awfully lot, and it was so hot today. Somewhere around 4:00--while he was out working on that car (Oh! because after he got the battery in it, he had to find out if it really was the tiwi that was draining the battery. Then he had to call Inthinc--who makes, well, designed, the tiwi. They wanted him to take it for a test drive and re-orient it etc., etc.......) So while he was doing all that, and about 4:00, there was a weather alert on the weather radio--severe weather: rain, hail, wind........till 10:00 p.m.!! I looked out at a blue, blue sky with lots of sunshine!!! Roger got the car finished. The sisters left. We wrapped things up at our desks. And we went to the temple. I didn't think another thing about the "severe weather" until I walked through the door into the celestial room and I could hear the wind howling outside!! And it was really howling. I heard the rain beat against the window for just a minute and then in what I supposed to be the rain gutter--outside the emergency exit. The lights flickered a few times. Then the wind was still. We didn't stay much longer--we were hungry and tired...........as we were walking out the brother at the recommend desk told us it had really rained and that the roads would be slick so "be careful". It was raining just a little bit as we walked out to the car. We stopped for something to eat. A little rain. Drove back to Hoover. A little rain. But there was evidence of a downpour and/or wind all over the parking lot at our apartment. There are leaves everywhere! And something that I think is neat............after the heat of the day, and then the cooling of the rain, the mist rises off the roads to about two feet high. I don't know where it goes after that, but it's very visible as it wafts up in the headlights.........could be spooky on the right kind of night......or time of night.......but otherwise, just one of those neat things that happens here.
The temple session was wonderful!!!! After Pres. Hanks' teaching two weeks ago I quit trying so hard to figure anything out and just soaked in the Spirit. It was GREAT!!!!!! The word "joy" is used many, many times, and I thought how much Father in Heaven loves us and wants us to be happy and have joy!! It didn't hurt either that it was my most favorite film of the new ones.
I've also been wondering about "giving our agency to Father in Heaven". I'm sure you saw/watched Pres. Packer's funeral........and I listened to one of his talks this week when he taught us that. Just wondering.............
